Combining tequila with strawberry cream was a bold innovation, the first drink of its kind to pair cream with anything other than Irish whiskey. Exotic. Unexpected. Delicious. • RICARD

    PASTIS DE MARSEILLE LIQUEUR

    FRANCE

HISTORY: “Ricard will be the true Pastis de Marseille”. Back in 1932, in Marseilles, Paul Ricard was only 23 and had just created his own drink.

In his way, he invented a benchmark, a recipe – Pastis de Marseille – and a unique flavour. It would be the first French-style long drink: one volume of Ricard with five volumes of water.

A visionary, Paul Ricard invented after World War II global communications: major advertising campaigns, promotional items, sponsoring and patronage actions, consumer relations, commercial events and activities.

In 1962, the Ricard company floated on the stock market. In 1984, a new advertising campaign was released, introducing the famous tagline “A Ricard, or Nothing”. It is also the time when Ricard sold its one billionth bottle. Today, it is the world’s No.1 anise-based spirits brand, and No.11 Spirits brand.

    KNOW-HOW

Ricard pastis owes its reputation to a unique recipe that has remained a secret since it was created. It stands out especially through the quality and variety of its natural ingredients.

The star anise from China is the main ingredient. The best fruits are selected, sun-dried and
distilled on-site for a first time. Right at the source, Ricard’s expert selects the best essential oils of star anise.

Next step on the road to aroma is the Middle East, in search for another natural ingredient: liquorice. Right at the place where liquorice plants are harvested, the most aromatic roots are selected. The liquorice brings its famous yellow colour and its round taste to the Ricard pastis.

The road ends in the Provençal “garrigue” where the brand harvests a mix of aromatic herbs of Provence. In Bessan, the aromatic base is elaborated, a subtle blend of all essential oils with water and alcohol.

During its production phases, each bottle of Ricard is going through 50 quality controls, testing ingredients and end product. This expertise guarantees the constant and inimitable quality and taste of Ricard throughout the year.

  • MALIBU

    COCONUT RUM LIQUEUR

    BARBADOS

HISTORY: Since 1893, Malibu rum has been produced on the island of Barbados, reputed for its high quality rum since the middle of the 17th century.

The Twelve Island Shipping Company initially distributed the brand on the 12 islands of the Lesser Antilles, before rapidly expanding to cover the rest of the world. Very quickly, the brand established a strong reputation internationally.

Malibu has received many awards, including Impact magazine’s “Hottest Brand” award in 2003, 2004 and 2005, followed by the Adam’s Growth Brand award in 2006. In 2008, Malibu received eight medals in international spirits competitions.

    KNOW-HOW

Produced on the island of Barbados, Malibu owes its unique taste to a refined blend of Caribbean rum, natural coconut flavours and very high quality pure cane sugar.

Malibu’s production combines traditional methods with advanced technologies. The process starts off with molasses extraction: the sugarcane juice is heated to create unrefined brown sugar, and the molasses is the syrupy part resulting from this process. A blend of water and yeast is then added to this syrup to facilitate fermentation.

This is followed by three successive distillation stages, carried out in high vats specially designed at the famous West Indies rum distillery. Transferred to oak casks, the smooth and light white rum obtained this way is blended with coconut to produce the most well-known coconut flavoured rum.

Malibu is recognisable thanks to its famous white bottle, illustrated with palm trees and a sunset in the background.

The taste of Malibu is Barbados in a bottle – smooth, fresh coconut flavour with a sweet finish.

  • KAHLUA

    COFFEE LIQUEUR

    U.S.A

HISTORY: A pioneer of coffee liqueur, Kahlúa was created in Mexico in 1936. At the beginning of the 1960s, Jules Berman, an art collector and entrepreneur, introduced it to the United States.

While there is still a touch of mystery surrounding Kahlúa’s exact origins, its groundbreaking flavour is enjoyed worldwide today.

    KNOW-HOW

Kahlúa uses 100% Arabica coffee beans, grown on the high plateaus of Veracruz which offer optimum altitude and climate conditions. They are fresh, with a subtle hint of chocolate that defines Kahlúa’s unique flavour and aroma. These coffee beans are roasted slightly, just enough to develop a delicate flavour, then briefly ground to preserve their natural smoothness. The ground coffee is immediately extracted with water. Freshly filtered, it is then blended with sugar cane alcohol, vanilla and caramel.

    ORIGINAL

Relying the two finest ingredients of the area — sugarcane and 100% Arabica coffee —, the flavour of Kahlúa reflects the multicultural region where it comes from. KAHLÚA Liqueur offers scents of bittersweet coffee, roasted chestnut, and multilayered flavours of black coffee and butter.
